About Me

My name is John, and I help dogs and their owners build strong, lasting bonds through thoughtful, dog-centred training.

I’m a PACT-qualified Canine Training Instructor and an ABTC accredited Animal Training Instructor (ATI). The ABTC register is recognised by major UK welfare charities including the RSPCA, Blue Cross, Battersea and Dogs Trust.

My journey began with our spirited rescue Cockapoo, Woody. Like many owners, I experienced the full range of puppyhood — the joy, the frustration, and the learning curve. That experience sparked a deep interest in understanding behaviour properly, not just managing it.

That interest became a profession.

How I Work

Dogs aren’t being “naughty” or “stubborn” — they’re responding to their environment in the best way they know how.

My role is to help you understand what’s driving the behaviour and guide you towards practical, ethical solutions that work for your individual dog.

My approach is:

  • Force-free and welfare-first

  • Grounded in modern behavioural science

  • Based on positive reinforcement

  • Enrichment-led and needs-based

  • Adapted to the dog in front of me

Why Enrichment Matters

Training doesn’t happen in isolation.

Many unwanted behaviours are signs that a dog’s needs aren’t fully met. Dogs are intelligent, sensory-driven animals with natural instincts to sniff, search, problem-solve and explore.

Through scent work, play, structured games and purposeful activities, we provide appropriate outlets for those instincts.

When a dog feels fulfilled and regulated, behaviour often improves as a natural by-product.

Calm isn’t forced. It emerges.

What This Means For You

Working together, you can expect:

  • Clear, practical guidance

  • Training that fits real life

  • Support without judgement

  • A focus on long-term wellbeing

  • A stronger, more confident relationship with your dog

Whether you’re navigating puppyhood or more complex behaviour concerns, I’ll support you in a way that feels structured but never overwhelming.

A Commitment to Doing Things Properly

Dog training continues to evolve, and so do I. I invest in ongoing professional development to ensure the guidance I give is up-to-date, evidence-informed and aligned with modern welfare standards.

You can feel confident that your dog’s wellbeing is always at the centre of everything I do.
